These might be the easiest, quickest biscuits to make in the universe so if you feel like doing some DIY baking but doubt your personal prowess, relax.
We’re all about Christmas trees here at Trendy Trees, but we also love everything that goes into this most festive of holidays, including homemade Christmas sugar biscuits.
Decorating them with the kids will become a new tradition your children will remember forever. So don your aprons, this is what you will need:
1 cup soft butter
1 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla
2 tsp baking powder
3 cups flour
Right, here we go:
Preheat the oven to 180˚C.
Cream butter and sugar. Beat in vanilla and egg.
Sift together baking powder and flour, then add to the creamed mixture, about 3 tablespoons at a time, to form a stiff dough. Turn out and knead by hand.
Roll out a portion of the dough to a thickness of about 6mm.
Press out shapes.
Bake for 6 minutes and remove before they turn brown at the edges. The biscuits will still be soft.
While still warm, gently push a skewer through the top of each cookie, about a centimetre from the edge. Wiggle skewer a little till you have a hole just large enough to pass a thin ribbon through.
Allow to cool for a bit on the baking tray then transfer to cooling rack.
Decorate as preferred, preferably with many little hands involved.
Allow to set if you can bear to.
Wolf down a few.
And string the rest up in your Trendy Tree.
